Bonjour Fiji

The Bonjour Fiji Festival will appeal to all francophiles. It includes displays of French arts such as wine tasting and bread tasting (French wine and French bread of course!), Guitare Masterclass, Noumea Guitare Quartet, Francophone Night and comic Arts Masterclass. There is a comic arts festival at the Suva City Library that lasts until April 5th, with free workshops and entertainments for all ages. At the Sofitel resort on Denarau island in Nadi, the Noumea Classical Quartet performed on April 1st. The festival was officially opened by the Ambassador of France to Fiji, Jean-Francois Bouffandeau, at the Alliance Francaise in Suva.

Rotuma Day

Rotuma Day is celebrated on the small island of Rotuma (far north-west of the main islands of Fiji) each year. Officially the 13th May, celebrations are usually held on the nearest weekend. For 2008, this is 10th - 11th May. Rotumans celebrate the day that Rotuma was ceded to Great Britain. Dance is a feature of the celebrations, including young Rotuman children, and a way of ensuring the tradition and culture of Rotuma persists for future generations. The festival is held in Suva. The forum is being organized for Government Ministers and Senior Executives of Government Ministries, Chief Executive Officers and Senior Executives of Private Organisations.

From the speakers’ presentations and interaction with participants at the Panel Discussion, Syndicate Discussions will follow which will subsequently translate into an Action Planning Paper on recommendations for Organisations to pursue and achieve productivity and competitiveness.
